Review: Botanics Soothing Eye Make-Up Remover All Bright

Botanics Soothing Eye Make-Up Remover All Bright

I had a Botanics voucher from Boots and I was running out of eye make-up remover so I picked up the Botanic Soothing Eye Make-Up Remover All Bright.

It claims to:

  • Sweep away impurities and waterproof make up
  • Soothe the eye area and condition lashes using the power of hibiscus
  • Boost brightness and gently exfoliate also using hibiscus

This is a dual phase eye make-up remover which is my favourite type.  It says shake vigorously but I find that the two liquids mix quite easily and stay mixed on the cotton wool pad. This eye make-up remover easily removes my make-up although I haven’t tried it on waterproof mascara.  It definitely soothes the eye area and does not irritate at all. My eyes feel cleansed and refreshed after using this.

So far this lives up to the claims.  I really like this one!

Review: L’Oreal Skin Perfection 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil

After purchasing the L’Oreal’s Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Micellar Solution, I decided that I wanted to try a cleansing oil.  I spotted the L’Oreal Skin Perfection 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil on Erin Louise Hunt‘s blog so that saved me searching around (thanks Erin!).

Random historical fact: the ancient Romans cleansed their skin using olive oil and had a reputation for being clean!

To use this oil, I massage one or two pumps into my face and one further pump on my eyes only. I then wipe it all off in a circular motion with a warm and wet muslin cloth. All done!

You can actually just rinse your face without a cloth but for me, this is all about quickly removing the make-up and getting to bed!

It really does dissolve everything I’ve worn (although I haven’t tried it with waterproof mascara) and it leaves my face fully cleansed and make-up free.  Rather than providing a way of gripping make-up so that it can be wiped off, it melts straightaway it so it can be washed off.

My only problem is that because it has to be used with water, my cheeks are sometimes left a little tight, but I know this can happen with me.  Water really dries my skin out. I can live with the odd tightening for the sake of getting the make-up quickly. I find make-up removal incredibly tedious so the less time and effort expended the better!

Another great thing about this is that it lasts for a long time – a little miracle oil goes a long way!

Well worth trying the Ancient Roman option!

Review: L’Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Micellar Solution

I love the idea of cleansing my face with water that has a little something extra. This L’Oreal Skin Perfection Purifying 3 in 1 Micellar Solution is great.

It easily removes make-up leaving my skin feeling very clean and not the slightest bit dry.  It even takes off eye make-up although I haven’t tried it with waterproof mascara.  I love the fact this is gentle enough to use on the lips. Before I bought this, I used eye make-up remover on my lips!

As it is a water, it is refreshing and the micellar bit dissolves the make-up, which tap water simply doesn’t do. After cleansing, I do feel like I’ve splashed my face with water without suffering from the drying effect.

The only thing that could be better is the bottle.  The rectangle looks nice but it is not practical so when I’m pouring out the cleansing water, it spills! It’s just a bit awkward to control.

Other than that, I definitely like!

Review: L’Oreal Skin Perfection Nourishing Cleansing Wipes

Review: L’Oreal Skin Perfection Nourishing Cleansing Wipes

I know that some people believe you can’t adequately cleanse using wipes. For me, it depends on how much make-up I am wearing.

If I’m wearing the full primer, liquid foundation, powder, setting spray etc then I don’t use wipes. If I’ve been wearing a little make-up- foundation, blush, light eye make-up, I think wipes are fine.

These L’Oreal Skin Perfection Nourishing Cleansing Wipes are pretty good. They cleanse my skin without making it tight and they get my eye make-up off (I don’t really use waterproof mascara). They don’t take too much effort to remove the make-up – no scrubbing involved. That’s all I really need!

There’s not much of a scent and my skin feels quite clean, so I’m very happy with this one.

Review: L’Oreal Triple Active Nourish Intense Hydrating Moisturiser

L'Oreal Triple Active Nourish Intense Hydrating Moisturiser

L’Oreal Triple Active Nourish Intense Hydrating Moisturiser

I bought this L’Oreal Triple Active Nourish Intense Hydrating Moisturiser a while back and have almost finished it.

I initially bought thus as I needed a good winter cream for my dry skin.  It seemed to tick all the boxes: intense, nourishing, hydrating, moisturising!

The first thing I noticed was the scent – a strong perfume.  I personally find that off-putting for two reasons. The first is that I worry that my skin will react.  The second is that I just don’t like different strong smelling scents all over me, especially on my face. When I want scent, I spritz on some perfume.

The good news is my skin was fine – no reaction.  The texture is lovely.  It’s thick but light, almost fluffy.  It absorbs with ease and feels just a little bit luxurious.  It easily keeps my dry skin hydrated for the day so once I get over the scent, I really like it.

Is it really intense, nourishing, hydrating, moisturising? Definitely!

Would I buy it again? Probably not, the scent is too strong for me.  If there was an unscented version, I would definitely buy that.
