Review: DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

I received this sample of the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil in the Latest in Beauty Winter Collection Editor’s Picks box. Having tried the L’Oreal 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil, I wanted to see what other brands had to offer.

This oil is very thick -it has the scent and consistency of olive oil. This makes it more difficult to rub in that the L’Oreal miracle oil but it does feel more luxurious. The thickness makes me need to massage my face properly which I’m sure is good for me.

It doesn’t dissolve make-up as quickly as the L’Oreal oil but it does have two advantages. The first is that my face feels more thoroughly cleansed once I have finished massaging it into my skin and the second is that my skin does not feel dry at all once I rinse the oil off.

Which is your favourite cleansing oil?

Latest in Beauty Winter Collection Editor’s Picks – The Skincare

In addition to the beauty products in the Latest in Beauty Winter Collection Editor’s Picks box here, there’s a bunch of skincare goodies.  For me, winter is all about looking after skin.  Unfortunately for me, the weather has all of a sudden turned almost summery, so I can’t fully put everything to the test.  Oh well, skin needs care all year round!  Here’s what I received:

Q Balance the Fine Fragrance Body Spray  – I don’t usually use body spray, I’m an eau de parfum kinda girl.  This has a very delicate scent – it is very floral and quite nice.

Weleda Skin Food – This says it’s for dry and rough skin.  I think it’s a hand cream – no idea!

Caudalie Hand and Nail cream – this is what is says on the tube! I’m looking forward to trying this one out as I see Caudalie products on blogs all the time. I’m definitely curious and this is one of the reasons I decided to get this box.

Sanctuary Spa Resurface & Refine Ultra Polish – This is an exfoliator which is too strong to use every day which is fine by me – once per week does the trick.  I thought it was a hand exfoliator but it’s actually for the body. As an added extra, it comes with £3 off the full size tube from Boots, which is valid until 31 May 2014. Nice touch!

Green People Age Defy+ Line Eraser Lip & Eye – I don’t have lines but this promises to make skin plumper and firmer.  I could do with that on my lips so this was another product which helped me to decide to choose this box.  As an eco-bonus, it’s made with 95.9% certified organic products.

DHC deep cleansing oil – this was the deal-maker for me.  I really wanted to try a DHC product.  Also, I really like the idea of cleansing oils and was suitably impressed with my L’Oreal cleansing oil which I reviewed here.  I thought I would try another oil for comparison.

Latest in Beauty Glamour Edit Box Review: Maybelline Baby Lips Mint Fresh

Maybelline Baby Lips Minty Fresh

Maybelline Baby Lips Minty Fresh

The Latest in Beauty Glamour Edit Box was a good excuse to try Maybelline Baby Lips.  They’re not expensive but there were so many to choose from, including tinted balms, that it was easier to let someone else choose one for me!

Now, I’m not really into balms – I prefer my Nivea Lip Butter, Vaseline, or when I had it, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant.  I also don’t like strong scents on my lips.

The Mint Baby Lips scent is perfect for me.  It has a hint of mint which makes it pleasantly refreshing rather than being overpowering.  I actually quite enjoy wearing it for the scent alone.

Packaging wise, as it is bright green, it is always easy to find in my bag.

As for how moisturising it is, I would say it is between Vaseline and the Nivea Lip Butter. Vaseline is more of a barrier and the lip butter is nourishing. Baby Lips feels like a moisturiser.  I know most people love this balm but unfortunately I am not that enamoured with it. It just doesn’t last as long on the lips as I want it to so it will not be a replacement for my lip butter. I now carry all three and apply the Baby Lips when I’m in the mood for mint!

It may be that my lips require the Intensive Moisture Baby Lips and I’m willing to give that one a try. If you are a balm fan, give this one a try – I’m glad I received it!

Glowwbox Review: Nablus Soft Honey Soap

Nablus Soft Honey Soap

Nablus Soft Honey Soap

Nablus Soft Honey Soap

Nablus Soft Honey Soap

I received this in my November Glowwbox. The delay in reviewing is mainly down to the fact that I don’t use bars of soap as my skin is too dry.  I use Sanex Zero shower gel!

Despite this, I did give the soap a try as it was made from natural ingredients including olive oil.  It smelled lovely, like honey, and was soothing.  Unfortunately for me, my skin did not like it.  My skin felt rubbery and a tad dry after using it so this soap is not for me.

It might not be great for my dry skin but if you’re used to using bar soap, it may be ok for you. It’s a shame because the scent is divine!
