Review: No7 Beautiful Skin Eye Make Up Remover

No7 Beautiful Skin Eye Make Up Remover

No7 Beautiful Skin Eye Make Up Remover

I originally bought the No7 Beautiful Skin Eye Make Up Remover for two reasons. The first was that after using Lancôme’s Bi-Facil, I decided dual phase was the way to go. Secondly, I had a voucher!

Compared with Bi-Facil, it was disappointing. You have to shake the bottle quite hard and then immediately get the solution on to the cotton wool otherwise it will separate. It literally separates in seconds right before your eyes. That’s just annoying.

Once you can get to use it I think it is quite good, which is partly why I did end up buying it again-I had a voucher! It happily removes eye make-up and does not irritate my eyes at all. It has a slightly oily feel but I don’t mind as I have dry skin and the oil-type effect does not linger.
The No7 Beautiful Skin Eye Make Up Remover is much cheaper than Bi-Facil at £8.50 but I think it’s value is £3.50 – the price you pay with the voucher that Boots had out from time to time. Bi-Facil is £21 and although I prefer it, I cannot bring myself to spend the cash. I need a middle ground!

Here are my latest skincare purchases:

Boots Botanics Hydrating Day Cream SPF 15 All Bright

I think Botanics had an offer on so this was added incentive to try this out.  It promises to brighten and protect with the power of the hibiscus flower. I could do with a brighter complexion as winter makes my skin look so dull. It’s for normal/dry skin so hopefully it will work for my dry skin.  It says it will hydrate for 24 hours but there’s no way I’m going for 24 hours without washing my face!

Boots Botanics Hydrating Night Cream All Bright

I bought the matching night cream to maximise the effect!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I am a big fan of cleansing water and this was on offer so I just had to pick it up. I’ve also read some good blog reviews about it.

Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Make-up Remover

I’m also a big fan of dual-formula eye-make up removers – they seem to work pretty well for me. This one looks a bit different to the others in that rather than a 50/50 split of phases, there is a 1/3:2/3 split. Interesting!  It is “enriched in Arginine” which the bottle says protects the eyelashes. I guess that’s an added bonus!

Nivea Daily Essentials Soothing Cleansing Mousse

I also really like foam face washes/cleansers. They’re light to perfect for my dry skin.  This one is for dry and sensitive skin so hopefully it will work.  In the past, sensitive skin products have not agreed with me. This says it has almond oil and Hydra IQ in it.   Well, at least I know what almond oil is!

I attempted to do sale shopping and didn’t do too badly!  This month I bought:

No7 Skincare Collection

This was a Christmas gift set that was half price – I paid hardly anything for all of this:

  • Protect & Perfect day cream with SPF 15
  • Protect & Perfect night cream
  • Beautiful Skin hot cloth cleanser
  • Beautiful Skin eye make-up remover
  • Muslin face cloth
  • Hairband

I know I like all of these products as I have received this gift before!

I picked up a Boots Health & Beauty Magazine and it has a voucher for 100 points if you buy Botanics skincare.  I needed hand cream so I bought the Botanics soothing hand cream but it was before the validity date of the voucher!  I didn’t mind as the cream was reduced anyway.

When the voucher was valid, I went back and bought the Botanics Soothing Eye Make Up Remover. It is a dual remover which you shake to activate.  I tend to like this type of eye make-up remover so I’m hoping this will be a winner.

Finally, I bought the L’Oreal Skin Perfection 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil after seeing it on Erin Louise Hunt’s blog here.  I really wanted to try this and there was a discount on it in both Superdrug and Boots – it was a sign!

My Eye Make-Up Remover Journey

Eye make-up removers

Eye make-up removers

This will shock you all (or maybe not).  As a teenager, I used to remove my eye make-up with … baby oil!

You will be pleased to know that I have moved on from that!

I first discovered that there were dedicated eye make-up removers when I received a trial sized Lancôme Bi-Facil.  I love this dual action product but it’s the same old story – did I really have to spend that much to remove my eye make-up?

I then moved on to the Body Shop.  First I tried the Chamomile Mild Eye Make-Up Remover.  This was ok.  It felt like a cleansing water.  It got the make-up off, as long as it was not waterproof mascara.  It was gentle and soothing.  I then tried the Chamomile waterproof eye-make up gel.  It performed a little better than the water but I didn’t find it all that impressive.

I then moved on to No7.  The No7 Beautiful Skin Eye Make Up Remover is a dual liquid formula which you shake to activate, just like Bi-Facil.  This one has an oil-like liquid in it which I like.  Review to come soon but I will tell you now that Bi-Facil is better!

Continuing my quest to find a product that will work but will not bankrupt me, I tried Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Make Up Remover.  I can’t decide whether I prefer this over the No7 one.  It works and I’m happy enough for the price I paid.  Again, it has a more oil-like liquid in the mix.

I now know that for me, I prefer the dual formula eye make-up removers, and I don’t mind the oil feeling as I have dry skin. Having said that, the removers feel moisturising rather than greasy.

Realistically, I think I will go back to premium brands for eye make-up removers.  The reason is that although all of the above will take off the make-up, sometimes a little bit of rubbing is needed which is terrible for the eye area, and it hurts! I had to rub the most with the Body Shop products so will give those a miss in the future.  I’ll probably still buy the No7 and Nivea dual formula eye make-up removers.  I will definitely buy Bi-Facil, unless I find another premium product I prefer. You can’t say I didn’t try!

Christmas Goodies

Christmas Goodies

My Christmas beauty presents were all skin products this year.  I received:

Beauticology Foot Lotion, Foot Soak Crystals and Supersoft socks so I can maintain my super soft skin from my pedicure

and

A cute Beauticology tin containing an even cuter gingerbread man soap, Chocolate Cupcake liquid gold shower crème and Vanilla Frosting hand and body lotion.  It all smells divine and the gingerbread man looks good enough to eat!

I’ve never used Beauticology so this was a nice surprise, especially as it has such pretty packaging!

I also received a No7 Beautiful Skin set containing travel-sized versions of:

  • Cleansing Lotion
  • Radiance Exfoliator
  • Overnight Revitalising Eye Balm
  • Energising Mask
  • Day Cream
  • Night Cream

I don’t think I have the patience to wait until I go on holiday to use all of this, and I really need the Overnight Revitalising Eye Balm right now! Actually, I’ve already used full size versions of the creams, cleanser and exfoliator (reviews to come) so I think I will pack them away for my travels, especially as the day cream has SPF 15.

My lovely family has decided to take care of me from head to toe! I’ll let you know my thought on the products soon.
