Review: Botanics All Bright Hydrating Day Cream SPF 15 & Hydrating Night Cream

Botanics All Bright Hydrating Day Cream SPF 15 & Hydrating Night Cream

Botanics All Bright Hydrating Day Cream SPF 15 & Hydrating Night Cream

I will start by saying that I think the Botanics Hydrating Creams are really good – I was definitely pleasantly surprised!   The packaging says they contain “brightening hibiscus” and I have to say, my skin did look a little brighter. Maybe it’s the hibiscus, maybe it’s because my skin is well moisturised. Maybe it’s both!

I used the night cream to begin with. At first I was a little put off by the scent. It is very light but I just didn’t like it. Luckily I couldn’t smell it for long. The cream is thick enough to keep my skin moisturised but not so thick that my pores feel clogged. I quite enjoyed massaging it into my face every night.

The day cream smells a little different but again, the scent is very light. It has an SPF in it which normally makes the texture uncomfortable for me but this stays light and non-sticky. The day cream is a little lighter in texture than the night cream.

As far as I can tell, these creams deliver on their claims of being hydrating and brightening. They are good value for money and I would repurchase them.

I bought these creams because they were reasonably priced and even cheaper with my £5 off vouchers.  I had already tried Boots No7 Protect & Perfect and Boots No7 Beautiful Skin day and night creams and liked them.  The Boots No7 Essential range is the cheapest in the No7 skincare collection but at full price, they are still £9 each.

I normally buy creams specifically for dry skin.  These creams don’t specify so it was a bit of gamble which luckily paid off.

No7 Essentials Day Cream

I was impressed by this day cream, especially for the price I I paid.  It is a good thickness for the day and keeps my skin feeling supple and moisturised. It’s nicely creamy without being heavy or greasy or too thin like a lotion.  For me and my dry skin, it’s best for spring, summer and autumn.   For winter I needed to give it a boost by using a facial oil underneath.  My guess is that it would be fine all year round for “normal” skin (what is normal? Let’s not  get started on that one!).  It doesn’t have an SPF which I like – sometimes my skin just doesn’t like the addition of an SPF.  It’s not particularly special but it’s not meant to be – it’s a good basic cream which does the job well.

No7 Essentials Night Cream

I bought the night cream to match the day cream.  Again, it is unscented and leaves my skin feeling supple and moisturised when I wake up in the morning.  It is thicker than the day cream but not too thick, so on winter days when I don’t have time to use facial oil first, I just put this on instead of day cream. It sinks in without a trace and I really like this.  I don’t need a cream to work miracles, it just needs to moisturise and this does the job well.

I would definitely buy these again but with the voucher – I think £9 is too high. Around £5/£6 is a good price so £4 with the voucher is perfect!

Here are my latest skincare purchases:

Boots Botanics Hydrating Day Cream SPF 15 All Bright

I think Botanics had an offer on so this was added incentive to try this out.  It promises to brighten and protect with the power of the hibiscus flower. I could do with a brighter complexion as winter makes my skin look so dull. It’s for normal/dry skin so hopefully it will work for my dry skin.  It says it will hydrate for 24 hours but there’s no way I’m going for 24 hours without washing my face!

Boots Botanics Hydrating Night Cream All Bright

I bought the matching night cream to maximise the effect!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I am a big fan of cleansing water and this was on offer so I just had to pick it up. I’ve also read some good blog reviews about it.

Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Make-up Remover

I’m also a big fan of dual-formula eye-make up removers – they seem to work pretty well for me. This one looks a bit different to the others in that rather than a 50/50 split of phases, there is a 1/3:2/3 split. Interesting!  It is “enriched in Arginine” which the bottle says protects the eyelashes. I guess that’s an added bonus!

Nivea Daily Essentials Soothing Cleansing Mousse

I also really like foam face washes/cleansers. They’re light to perfect for my dry skin.  This one is for dry and sensitive skin so hopefully it will work.  In the past, sensitive skin products have not agreed with me. This says it has almond oil and Hydra IQ in it.   Well, at least I know what almond oil is!

Christmas Goodies

Christmas Goodies

My Christmas beauty presents were all skin products this year.  I received:

Beauticology Foot Lotion, Foot Soak Crystals and Supersoft socks so I can maintain my super soft skin from my pedicure

and

A cute Beauticology tin containing an even cuter gingerbread man soap, Chocolate Cupcake liquid gold shower crème and Vanilla Frosting hand and body lotion.  It all smells divine and the gingerbread man looks good enough to eat!

I’ve never used Beauticology so this was a nice surprise, especially as it has such pretty packaging!

I also received a No7 Beautiful Skin set containing travel-sized versions of:

  • Cleansing Lotion
  • Radiance Exfoliator
  • Overnight Revitalising Eye Balm
  • Energising Mask
  • Day Cream
  • Night Cream

I don’t think I have the patience to wait until I go on holiday to use all of this, and I really need the Overnight Revitalising Eye Balm right now! Actually, I’ve already used full size versions of the creams, cleanser and exfoliator (reviews to come) so I think I will pack them away for my travels, especially as the day cream has SPF 15.

My lovely family has decided to take care of me from head to toe! I’ll let you know my thought on the products soon.

I decided to try out some different skin products:

L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Micellar Solution – it promises great things so I’m looking forward to trying it!

L’Oreal Paris Triple Active Nourish Intense Hydrating Moisturiser – it promises to be non-greasy and soft but also good for dry to very dry skin for 24 hours. We’ll see!

No7 Protect and Perfect Eye Cream – I wanted to upgrade my eye cream from my Boots Vitamin E Cream so decided to give this a try.

I’ll review the products when I get round to trying them!
