Review: Ilia Balmy Nights

Ilia Balmy Nights

Ilia Balmy Nights

The Ilia Balmy Nights is a truly luxurious lip scrub.

I bought it (from Net-a-Porter) because I wanted a no-mess, no fuss scrub to smooth out my lips and prepare them for matte lipsticks.

It has sumptuous metallic packaging so it feels like a treat every time I use it. The scrub itself is fragrance free and seems to be set in a tough petroleum jelly-type substance which keeps it in shape. The scrub particles are just right in number and roughness.

I had to swipe this over my lips a few times to get to the scrub granules on first use but now there is no need for so much scrubbing.

I now just run the scrub twice over each lip then wipe off with a damp muslin cloth. It’s very easy to use that way and leave my lips smooth feeling and not too dry. If I try to rinse the scrub off without the cloth it is a bit of a challenge because the substance holding the scrub together is water resistant!

I always follow with lip balm or 8 Hour Cream.

Ilia Balmy Nights is quite pricey but entirely worth it!

Review: No7 Beautiful Skin Overnight Revitalising Eye Balm

No7 Beautiful Skin Overnight Revitalising Eye Balm

No7 Beautiful Skin Overnight Revitalising Eye Balm

I received this No7 Beautiful Skin Overnight Revitalising Eye Balm as part of a gift set for Christmas. It claims to visibly improve dark circles and puffiness. I’m not sure about that but I like it anyway!

It is a transparent balm which soothes and moisturises the eyes overnight. I wake up with my eyes feeling refreshed which is much more pleasant than my eyes feeling dry!
Recently I have been wearing this over my Green People Age Defy Line Eraser Lip & Eye serum and they seem to work well together to keep my eye area hydrated. This is one of the few No7 products I am likely to repurchase, and want to repurchase!

Review: Green People Age Defy Line Eraser Lip & Eye

Green People Age Defy Line Eraser Lip & Eye Eraser

Green People Age Defy Line Eraser Lip & Eye

I received a sample of this Green People Age Defy Line Eraser Lip & Eye in my Latest in Beauty Winter Collection Editor’s Picks box. It is a serum which contains 95% organic ingredients. It is an opaque greeny-yellow liquid with a natural spa smell. I tried this on my lips a couple of times but I mainly use it on my eyes.

I have to confess, I don’t have any lines to get rid of so I can’t comment on that aspect. I did use it under my night-time eye cream as added protection and nourishment. I don’t know if I can see any difference but I wasn’t looking for any really.

It does take quite a long time to massage one pump of the serum into both eyes so I just have to enjoy the massage. The whole process does relax me before I go to sleep. It’s not moisturising enough for me to not apply eye cream over the top but as I understand it, serums work best when used with moisturiser.

I liked the fact I was putting something good on to my face. I have had no reactions which could happen with organic products so I would be willing to try other Green People products.

Review: L’Oreal Skin Perfection Nourishing Cleansing Wipes

Review: L'Oreal Skin Perfection Nourishing Cleansing Wipes

Review: L’Oreal Skin Perfection Nourishing Cleansing Wipes

I know that some people believe you can’t adequately cleanse using wipes. For me, it depends on how much make-up I am wearing.

If I’m wearing the full primer, liquid foundation, powder, setting spray etc then I don’t use wipes. If I’ve been wearing a little make-up- foundation, blush, light eye make-up, I think wipes are fine.

These L’Oreal Skin Perfection Nourishing Cleansing Wipes are pretty good. They cleanse my skin without making it tight and they get my eye make-up off (I don’t really use waterproof mascara). They don’t take too much effort to remove the make-up – no scrubbing involved. That’s all I really need!

There’s not much of a scent and my skin feels quite clean, so I’m very happy with this one.

Review: L’Oreal Triple Active Nourish Intense Hydrating Moisturiser

L'Oreal Triple Active Nourish Intense Hydrating Moisturiser

L’Oreal Triple Active Nourish Intense Hydrating Moisturiser

I bought this L’Oreal Triple Active Nourish Intense Hydrating Moisturiser a while back and have almost finished it.

I initially bought thus as I needed a good winter cream for my dry skin.  It seemed to tick all the boxes: intense, nourishing, hydrating, moisturising!

The first thing I noticed was the scent – a strong perfume.  I personally find that off-putting for two reasons. The first is that I worry that my skin will react.  The second is that I just don’t like different strong smelling scents all over me, especially on my face. When I want scent, I spritz on some perfume.

The good news is my skin was fine – no reaction.  The texture is lovely.  It’s thick but light, almost fluffy.  It absorbs with ease and feels just a little bit luxurious.  It easily keeps my dry skin hydrated for the day so once I get over the scent, I really like it.

Is it really intense, nourishing, hydrating, moisturising? Definitely!

Would I buy it again? Probably not, the scent is too strong for me.  If there was an unscented version, I would definitely buy that.
